Carbonara

I recently went to the store and I had coupons for buy meat balls get pasta free. Well a lot of people must have had this coupons. Not many meat balls and not much pasta choice. I got a bunch of spaghetti, which I don't use a lot of. So I needed to find a way to use it. I looked at a multitude of recipe sites and nothing stood out to me. I wanted something different.

Yesterday I was watching one of my favorite shows on hulu. Hells Kitchen and they had a clip on how to make Carbonara. This is so easy. It uses all my spaghetti and some of the over bought Easter eggs(oops). So here is a recipe for Carbonara I changed some of the ingredients because I didn't have the fresh versions available.

1 box spaghetti cooked
2 tablespoons ev olive oil
4 oz cooked diced bacon
1/8 teaspoon of garlic powder
2 large eggs
1 cup Parmesan cheese
Black pepper to taste
1 teaspoon dried parsley

Cook spaghetti al dente drain and keep a little of the water. Keep it hot while you cook the sauce.Heat Olive oil in skillet add the bacon and cook until crisp.

Beat eggs in a mixing bowl with Parmesan cheese and garlic powder.

Add hot drained spaghetti to skillet and toss a few time to coat it with the bacon fat. Remove from heat and pour the egg mixture into the spaghetti, keep whisking so eggs will thicken but not scramble.

Sprinkle with black pepper and parsley. Serve with some extra cheese.

This tastes fantastic and looks like a professional cooked it.

I'll try to get pictures later. I'm to busy eating my Carbonara. Oh yeah, I'm going back to watching hulu, because you never know where inspiration will strike.

Saving Money

Saving money.....Something only my mother was good at. She always had money cause she never spent anything on herself. She set herself a budget every month and stuck to it. How come I can't do that?

I know the concept of saving.....don't spend what you don't have and try to put the excess in the bank. Simple? What's excess? Do I have any of that? I know I have an excess of days before a paycheck. All joking aside, how do you save?

My Husband of 31 years saves by not spending his 10 dollar bills. He folds them and puts them in the back of his wallet(hello honey *waving*). It works for him until precious one(daughter) needs something(hello dear *waving*).

I use to save by collecting coins like the Sacajawea coins. I only saved like 97 dollars before we went on vacation. I think that was the last time I was very serious about saving and I needed that vacation. What I am good at is saving on groceries. No brags just facts. I can in good faith tell you that I have saved at least 60% on my grocery bill every time I shop.

Starting tomorrow I will give you my routine on shopping. What I look for in a sale and I will also give recipe on how to cook most of it. I might post some pictures if I can get my tech help(son) to help me(hello shug *waving*)

Until we meet again
